‘Ask Doctor G’ Joins Responsibility.org National Advisory Board
The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility (Responsibility.org) announced today that Dr. Deborah Gilboa has joined our National Advisory Board. An international parenting speaker and writer, Gilboa brings family medicine experience as an Attending Physician at the Squirrel Hill Health Center. She is also a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine.
As a member of our National Advisory Board, Gilboa will play a vital role in assisting in the development and execution of the organization’s mission by providing critical insights and valuable expertise to the president and CEO, Ralph Blackman, the staff and member companies.
“Drunk driving and underage drinking are incredibly important issues that need to be addressed,” Gilboa said on her appointment. “The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility is an experienced, tested leader in this fight. The organization runs an array of innovative, effective initiatives to educate parents and their kids, and I look forward to providing insights for making those efforts even more impactful.”
Gilboa has been American Board of Family Medicine Board Certified for over a decade, a member of American Academy of Family Physicians for almost two decades, and currently is on the board for Cybersmile Foundation, an anti-bulling non-profit organization. She is also a founding board member of Jerimiah’s Place – Pittsburgh’s First Relief Nursery.
She is an author of four books, her latest being “Get the Behavior You Want, Without Being the Parent You Hate!,” while her other three are activity books based on her 3R’s of Parenting: “Teach Resilience: Raising Kids Who Can Launch!,” “Teach Responsibility: Empower Kids with a Great Work Ethic,” and “Teach Respect: That’s My Kid!”
Also a contributor on the CBS morning show Pittsburgh Today Live, Gilboa has shared her doctor-tested, kid-approved advice with the media, seen nationally from NBC, ABC and FOX, to Parents Magazine, Your Teen Magazine to The Wall Street Journal and Today.com.
Gilboa has been awarded with the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award in 2012 and received the Pittsburgh Magazine’s 40 under 40 Award in 2009. She also was awarded Award for Excellence in Clinical Precepting from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in September, 2008 and 2009 and several more honors from her medical practice and education.
Gilboa’s education includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with University and College Honors, as an Andrew Carnegie Scholar, from the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh; Doctor of Medicine with Certificate of concentration in Disabilities Medicine from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh; and a Family Medicine Resident Physician, Women’s Board Scholar from Abington Memorial Hospital and Abington Family Medicine in Abington, Penn.
