Another celebrity DWI is another warning to heed
Last night, we noticed that #DWI was trending on Twitter. It turns out Jay Ratliff, nose tackle for the Dallas Cowboys, was arrested for drunk driving. It was reported he had a blood alcohol level that was over double the legal limit of .08.
It’s hard to believe that there could be some good news associated with the arrest of Dallas Cowboys football player, Jay Ratliff. After all, research suggests an offender could potentially drive drunk hundreds of times before they’re caught. And while the number of fatalities across the nation is at an all-time low, nearly 10,000 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes last year.
The good news is that every time a high profile person - a person who should know better - a person who has risen to the highest level of their chosen profession - a person who has the means to avoid the situation completely - does something this incredibly stupid, people take notice.
And the more people notice how incredibly stupid and dangerous it is to drive drunk, the more people will think about the consequences of doing so. Thank you Jay.
