IKnowEverything visits Randolph, KS and Midlothian, VA!

We had a great week for IKnowEverything! We traveled to the Midwest and the South. We started the week off at Blue Valley High School in Randolph, Kansas. We received help from very supportive staff and FCCLA students at Blue Valley High School. Blue Valley High School’s FCCLA advisor showed great enthusiasm for IKnowEverything. Unfortunately, Blue Valley High School recently lost a student to drunk driving. The students understood the importance of the challenge and were ready to test their knowledge.

Along with the students and faculty, Megan Henry, District Representative from Senator Moran’s Office and Crystal Moe, Director of Attorney General Schmidt’s Office were in attendance! We were also excited to have Police Officer Mitch Morgan and Police Officer Matt Gambrel from the Riley County Police Department at the event. Officer Morgan and Officer Gambrel both spoke at the end of the event. They talked about the importance of “thinking before acting” and how simple decision making can make a change. The FCCLA advisor had been monitoring the student drivers and entered the safest drivers in a raffle for Subway gift cards and FCCLA backpacks.

At the end of the week, IKnowEverything traveled to James River High School in Midlothian, Virginia. The Driver’s Education Coordinator, Brent Vandell was thrilled to have us! He always strives to bring in fresh perspectives into the classroom so he can make a difference in teen driver’s behavior. Sarah Huang, Staff Assistant from the Office of Congressman Cantor, attended the event. She was excited to see a great teen driving safety program at her brother’s high school. Lieutenant Eric Jones and Lieutenant Lawrence Taylor from the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office were also in attendance! The event was covered by NBC 12 Richmond and the students were excited to be a part of the challenge. Lieutenant Jones and Lieutenant Taylor both spoke at the end of the event about the dangers of distracted driving and drunk driving. The Lieutenants shared personal experiences that definitely caught the attention of all of the students.
