Responsibility.org Celebrates Accomplishments of Traffic Safety Leaders
Each year, the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility (Responsibility.org) recognizes the contributions of individuals who have made a substantial impact within the field of traffic safety. The Kevin E. Quinlan Award for Excellence in Traffic Safety honors the legacy of Kevin E. Quinlan. Over his twenty-year tenure at the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Kevin served as the Alcohol and Drug Program Coordinator, Chief of the Safety Division, and Chief of the Safety Advocacy Division. He was a traffic safety pioneer and was instrumental in promoting state action on NTSB recommendations to reduce fatalities, injuries, and crashes in all modes of transportation. Kevin was also a mentor to countless traffic safety advocates and an inspiration to the thousands of people who lost loved ones to the preventable crime of impaired driving.
The dedication, leadership, and vision of this year’s recipients embody the spirit of Kevin Quinlan’s legacy. A diverse group containing representatives from law enforcement, prosecution, the judiciary, probation, licensing, and state highway safety organizations, these awardees have shaped policy, developed innovative programs, promoted effective impaired driving solutions, educated practitioners across the country, and fostered collaboration. Most importantly, the efforts of these individuals have saved countless lives.
On November 30th, we honored our awardees at a special drug-impaired driving Congressional briefing with the help of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, and representatives from regional and national law enforcement agencies.
