Steven Casstevens

Buffalo Grove, Illinois - Former President of the IACP, Chief of Police

Steven Casstevens is the Chief of Police with the Buffalo Grove, IL Police Department. He began his law enforcement career in the Military Police with the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division in 1976.

Casstevens is formerly 1st Vice-President of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and was the Chair of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police Traffic Committee from 1999-2012, and serves on the IACP Highway Safety Committee, previously served on the IACP DUI Sub-Committee.

He has authored numerous articles for Police Chief Magazine, Command Magazine and Law and Order. He serves as an adjunct instructor for Northwestern University Center for Public Safety and has been a consultant for Ford Motor Company and Technical Advisor on traffic safety for Allstate Insurance and the National Safety Council.

A graduate of the 51st class of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff & Command and the 216th session of the FBI National Academy, Casstevens received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Judson University, and is a Certified Police Chief through the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
