Washington, DC -- Today, the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility welcomed Erin Holmes, formerly a Research Scientist for The Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF), as the Director of Traffic Safety and Technical Writer for Criminal Justice Programs, a newly created position.
The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility (Responsibility.org) is a national not-for-profit that leads the fight to eliminate drunk driving and underage drinking and has been funded by America’s leading distillers for nearly twenty-five years.
Erin previously served as a Research Scientist at the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF) where she worked from 2008 to 2014. During her tenure at TIRF, Erin became recognized as an impaired driving subject matter expert and knowledge broker. She published more than 40 reports and articles internationally on DWI, the criminal justice system, alcohol monitoring technologies, remedial licensing programs, treatment and risk assessment, and elderly drivers. Erin was responsible for several process evaluations of both interlock and remedial programs, the development of an online alcohol interlock curriculum for practitioners, the development of a national impaired driving education program, the creation of primers on impaired driving, risk assessment, and alcohol interlocks, and case studies on first offender interlock programs and female impaired driving offenders.
In addition, Erin was involved in TIRF’s international symposia series on interlocks and served as the co-coordinator of the Working Group on DWI System Improvements, a U.S. criminal justice coalition on impaired driving. Lastly, she was responsible for providing training and technical assistance to more than 20 jurisdictions through a cooperative agreement with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to improve the delivery of interlock programs across the United States.
“Erin is an innovator in the traffic safety world and we are very excited to welcome her to the team,” said Ralph Blackman, President and CEO of the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility. “We believe her strong experience, specifically in traffic safety and policy research, will be extremely valuable as we continue to work toward eliminating drunk driving and underage drinking.”
“I am very excited to begin working for the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility,” said Holmes. “I have always admired their work in the traffic safety field and look forward to providing my insight, experience and ideas to the mix this team puts into action to further the fight against drunk driving and underage drinking.”
